Complete forcing numbers of polyphenyl systems

The idea of “forcing” has long been used in many research fields, such as colorings, orientations, geodetics and dominating sets in graph theory, as well as Latin squares, block designs and Steiner systems in combinatorics (see [1] and the references therein). Recently, the forcing on perfect matchings has been attracting more researchers attention. A forcing set of M is a subset of M contained...

The Forcing Dimension of a Graph

For an ordered set W = {w1, w2, . . . , wk} of vertices and a vertex v in a connected graph G, the (metric) representation of v with respect to W is the k-vector r(v|W ) = (d(v,w1), d(v, w2), . . . , d(v, wk)), where d(x, y) represents the distance between the vertices x and y. The setW is a resolving set for G if distinct vertices of G have distinct representations. A resolving set of minimum ...

A comparison between the Metric Dimension and Zero Forcing Number of Line Graphs

The metric dimension dim(G) of a graph G is the minimum number of vertices such that every vertex of G is uniquely determined by its vector of distances to the chosen vertices. The zero forcing number Z(G) of a graph G is the minimum cardinality of a set S of black vertices (whereas vertices in V (G)\S are colored white) such that V (G) is converted entirely to black after finitely many applica...

Forcing Algebras, Syzygy Bundles, and Tight Closure

We give a survey about some recent work on tight closure and Hilbert-Kunz theory from the viewpoint of vector bundles. This work is based in understanding tight closure in terms of forcing algebras and the cohomological dimension of torsors of syzygy bundles. These geometric methods allowed to answer some fundamental questions of tight closure, in particular the equality between tight closure a...

Chaotic Analysis and Prediction of River Flows

Analyses and investigations on river flow behavior are major issues in design, operation and studies related to water engineering. Thus, recently the application of chaos theory and new techniques, such as chaos theory, has been considered in hydrology and water resources due to relevant innovations and ability. This paper compares the performance of chaos theory with Anfis model and discusses ...
